It looks like we’re getting closer to new music from Kanye West! For the first time since he was hospitalized last year, the rapper uploaded a new track to his SoundCloud page. Take a listen to ‘Bed Yeezy Season 5,’ which features The Dream, right here!
Kanye West, 39, is getting back in the game! Without notice, the 39-year-old updated his SoundCloud on Feb. 28, uploading a song called “Bed Yeezy Season 5.” It turns out, the track is actually just The Dream singing a very extended version of J. Holiday’s 2007 hit “Bed,” which the former penned in the early 2000s. Kanye can barely be heard on the song, but his voice is reportedly featured, albeit indistinguishable, in the background vocals, according to Entertainment Weekly.
During his Yeezy Season 5 fashion show earlier this month, Kanye played The Dream’s demo version of “Bed,” totally confusing fans. This extended version is 17 minutes long, and includes new vocals not on the original track. Perhaps ‘Ye wrote these lyrics, and this was his opportunity to show off what he’s been working on, even if he’s not ready to release music of his own just yet?!
Kanye has kept a fairly low profile since he was hospitalized following a major breakdown in November, and although he hasn’t publicly discussed the future of his career, he’s reportedly been hard at work in the studio and on his clothing line ever since. The rapper even skipped the Kardashian family vacation to Costa Rica to continue perfecting his craft!
Obviously, the February Yeezy Season 5 show took precedent for the beginning of this year, but now that that’s out of the way, we’re expecting Kanye to truly devote his time to the music. And, don’t forget, he also still has about a month and a half of Saint Pablo tour dates to make up!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Kanye releasing this extended version of “Bed”? Do you think it means new music is on the way?
