Jon Stewart just can’t stay away! The former host of ‘The Daily Show’ returned to ‘The Late Show’ to help Stephen Colbert blast President Donald Trump’s war on the news media. After the latest round of the president’s ‘bullsh*t,’ Jon had one message: it’s time to dump Trump.
Actually, Jon Stewart’s “relationship advice” was specifically to the media, after Stephen Colbert, 52, brought up how President Donald Trump, 70, has a horrible relationship with certain news organizations, per Variety. After Stephen said the magic words – “fake news” – during the Feb. 27 episode of The Late Show, Jon, 54, popped up from under Stephen’s desk like some politically-themed Beetlejuice.
“Jon, you miss it, don’t you?” Stephen asked, teasing the retired Daily Show host. He did — and we’ve missed him. Thankfully, Jon has Stephen, who can lend the spotlight whenever Jon feels like he has to take a shot at Trump. Oh, and he did, saying that the president “lies more in one press conference than CNN does in a year. And this is coming from a guy who, as you know, hates CNN.”
Yet, Jon seemed to actually care about CNN and the rest of the media, especially over its obsession with Trump. “Finally thought you had met your match: a blabbermouth who is as thin-skinned and narcissistic as you are,” Jon said, before pointing out that the love the media had for Donald has not been reciprocated. “Kick him to the curb…the whole time you’re all chasing after him, the rest of us are thinking, ‘but can’t you see he’s an assh*le?'”
Harsh. Jon’s second Late Show appearance in four weeks comes after White House press secretary Sean Spicer, 45, held an informal press briefing and refused to allow CNN, Politico, the LA Times and more in – but invited Fox News and Breitbart, outlets with a conservative bent. Jon argued that since Trump dumped these fawning news outlets, they should “do something for yourself. Self-improvement. Take up a hobby. I recommend journalism.”
Mic drop. It was as if Jon had never left The Daily Show to go raise animals in New Jersey. Actually, it does feel as if Jon is back. He appeared on the Feb. 1 episode of The Late Show to roast Donald and his executive orders (all while wearing a dead animal on his head to mock Trump’s “unique” hairstyle.) Since Trump is going to be in the White House for the next four years, does this mean we’ll be seeing more of Jon Stewart?
What did you think about Jon calling out Trump for his “bullsh*t,” HollywoodLifers? Do you think it was funny? Do you think he’ll be back on TV soon?
