Adam Levine will do anything — and apparently offer anything — to get a good team this season on ‘The Voice.’ In a blind audition that will air on the Feb. 27 premiere, the judge turns along with the other three for 16-year-old Anatalia Villaranda. And then, the claws come out!
Anatalia Villaranda took the stage to sing a cover of Bruno Mars‘ “Runaway Baby,” and her voice was just too powerful for all four judges not to turn around. Following her audition, her family came running out on stage and it was absolutely adorable — Alicia Keys coudln’t get enough.
However, once it came time for business, Blake Shelton was the first to talk, complimenting on her voice getting stronger as the song continued. “I lot of people would turn that energy into a colossal train wreck and you turned it into like, ‘No, I’m gonna keep beating you guys down until someone hits their button,’” Blake told her, before joking. “Too bad you don’t have any personality!”
“What I relate to the most is that energy to get everybody going, Blake’s GF Gwen Stefani told Anatlia, adding that she wanted to share her talent with her. “I just really feel passionate abut you and your positivity and I would love to talk about how we could show your personality through fashion, etc. I think we could work together and that would be so fun.” Naturally, that was a good argument, and Alicia Keys was even nodding in agreement, but added that she was looking for “an artist unafraid to express herself,” which she clearly was.
But Adam Levine may have topped it. He said her talent is “something you can’t teach.” During his speech, he heard actual crickets, which he can assume Blake was playing since he was “so boring.” He then told her he believed she “could win this entire thing.” When she said this was “so hard, like picking cake,” he tried to convince her to choose him by saying that he had tons of cake backstage…
“When you tell a teenager you have cake backstage… what is wrong with you?!” Blake hilariously yelled across to Adam. So, who did Anatalia pick? Tune in to The Voice at 8PM ET on NBC.
