The 2017 Oscars have been over for less than 24 hours, but the feelers are already out for who should host the ceremony next year. HollywoodLife.com has the EXCLUSIVE scoop on why The Academy is already favoring Justin Timberlake to succeed Jimmy Kimmel right here!
Justin Timberlake, 36, absolutely killed it when he opened the Academy Awards with a performance “Can’t Stop The Feeling” on Feb. 27, and his epic showing already has producers thinking about how he can be a big part of the show once again next year.
“The Academy loved Justin’s opening,” an insider tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “It felt fresh and fun and got everyone in a great mood. They also now that he is a great host from his work on Saturday Night Live, and they are considering having him [host] if Jimmy [Kimmel] doesn’t want to come back.”
Jimmy received rave reviews for his hosting duties this year, and a second source told us EXCLUSIVELY that Jimmy is still being considered as the top option by ABC. However, after the 2017 broadcast ended in a disaster — the wrong film was announced as the winner for Best Picture — Jimmy told the audience he’d never return to host again! Obviously, he was probably just joking, but the Academy is already making sure to consider other options, like Justin, if it comes to that.
Justin performed at the 2017 Oscars because his hit song from Trolls was nominated in the Best Original Song category. He lost out to “City of Stars” from La La Land, but his performance, which included dancing in the crowd and a sweet moment with his wife, Jessica Biel, 34, was certainly one of the most entertaining moments of the night. He has “host” written ALL over him, don’t you guys think?!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Justin would be a good host for the Oscars?
