All hail Ruth Negga! The ‘Loving’ star looked like a queen on the red carpet of the Academy Awards on February 26, wearing an insanely cool red gown. There’s no better way to make a statement than by wearing a literal crown to the Oscars!
Are we allowed to say we’re “loving” Ruth Negga‘s dress at the 89th annual Academy Awards, or is that pushing the pun limits? Ruth, who’s nominated at the Oscars for Best Actress, absolutely destroyed the red carpet prior to the awards show on February 26. Ruth’s Valentino dress was a vibrant shade of red that made the carpet look dull in comparison, and such a compelling combination with its vintage style.
By vintage, we’re saying Victorian era, at least. Ruth looked regal in the gown, that featured a full skirt, high neck and long sleeves. That seems extremely buttoned up for a flashy night, but there’s much more than meets the eye. The dress is made out of the sheerest, most delicate fabric that shows some skin on her chest and back. The fragile lace makes the otherwise stuffy neck and sleeves look cool!
And Ruth knew she looked like a queen, too; she was wearing a red crown in her hair! That’s right; her hair and makeup game was impeccable, as well. Man, Ruth needs to win Best Actress for Loving, because she looks way too good not to get up on stage!
It takes a special (gorgeous) kind of person to be able to pull off a fully monochromatic look, and Ruth managed to do it — down to the Chanel makeup! She dusted on burgundy eyeshadow and a deep ruby lip, and looked so pretty! Her makeup artist, Mélanie Inglessis, tucked it all away in her burgundy clutch, and away she went to the Oscars!
