Oh no! Meryl Streep nearly fell on her face when she tripped over her dress on the Oscars red carpet on Feb. 26. Apparently, her heels and long dress weren’t a great combo for the big night. To watch her trip, watch the video here!
Meryl Streep, 67, almost suffered a Jennifer Lawrence-style catastrophe while walking the red carpet at the 89th annual Academy Awards on Feb. 26, when she nearly tripped over her dress and fell flat on her face. Fortunately, she caught herself just in time, but it was a close call!
While wearing a blue bedazzled jumpsuit with a long train in the back, Meryl took a few sidesteps before stepping on the train with her heels and tripping over herself. The man in front of her tried saving her, but he was a little too late. The Academy Award-winning actress saved herself and kept walking as if nothing had happened. She’s so classy!
But even if Meryl had fallen, she wouldn’t be the first person to take a tumble at the Oscars. Jennifer Lawrence fell at both the 2013 and 2014 Oscars. First, she took a tumble while climbing the stairs to accept her away, and then in 2014, she tripped over her gown on the red carpet. So Meryl shouldn’t feel bad about her misstep — obviously, it has happened many times before.
