How exciting is this? There are a number of major celebs who are nominated for their FIRST Oscar at the 2017 ceremony. Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield are just to name a few!
The 2017 Academy Awards will take place on February 26 in Los Angeles, California, and there are quite a few opportunities for some first-time winners to be crowned. Let’s review all of the incredible names who are Oscar hopefuls!
We’ll start with the ever-so-handsome Justin Timberlake, 36, who is nominated for Best Original Song for “Can’t Stop The Feeling”. As you know, Justin wrote the song specifically for the animated film Trolls, in which he voiced one of the lead characters alongside Anna Kendrick, 31. However, Justin is up against Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, 37, for his song “How Far I’ll Go” from the hit film, Moana.
Next up we have Andrew Garfield, 33, who is up for Best Actor thanks to his incredible work in Hacksaw Ridge. The film was directed by Mel Gibson, 61, and in it Andrew portrays the first-ever WWII American Army Medic, Desmond Doss, to receive the Medal of Honor without firing a single shot from his gun.
Naomie Harris, 40, and director Barry Jenkins, 37, are both nominated for their amazing work on the powerful film, Moonlight. While Noamie gave a heartbreaking performance as the crack-addicted mother to the lead character, Barry directed the film, and their nominations are for Best Supporting Actress as well as Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, respectively.
There are a few more first-time nominees, but you’ll have to check out the gallery attached to see who they are! We can’t wait to see if one of these first-time nominees takes home a gold statue on Sunday, February 26 at 8:30pm ET.
