We can expect big changes from Fifth Harmony as they move forward without Camila Cabello in 2017, but will that include a replacement member or new band name? HollywoodLife.com has the EXCLUSIVE scoop!
Fifth Harmony has vowed to continue on as a girl group even after Camila Cabello, 19, announced her departure, but of course, fans are wondering what this means for the future of the band. “They are looking to move forward and move on and will not replace Camila,” an insider confirms to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “They want to prove themselves and show that they still got it even without Camila in the group.”
Of course, the name Fifth Harmony doesn’t exactly work with just four girls, but we’re hearing that there won’t be any changes there. “They had to change their name a couple of times through the whole X-Factor process,” our source explains. “But they’ve since made a brand out of ‘Fifth Harmony,’ and even though it no longer makes sense, they are keeping the name.”
The girls’ original name on The X-Factor was LYLAS (Love You Like A Sister), but they had to change things up because a group called The Lylas already exists. Their next choice was 1432 (I Love You, Too), but judge Simon Cowell wasn’t feeling it, and left it up to the show’s viewers to decide on a new name, which is where Fifth Harmony came from.
5H shockingly announced Camila would be leaving the group at midnight on Dec. 19, just hours after they all performed together in Miami. However, it has since become a back and forth between the four remaining members (Ally, Dinah Jane, Normani and Lauren) and the 19-year-old. In 5H’s latest statement, they put Camila on blast, claiming they’ve been trying to get her to attend meetings and work out her issues with the group for months, and she admitted to being hurt by the foursome for saying they only found out she’d be leaving through her representative. “The girls were aware of my feelings through the long, much needed conversations about the future that we had during tour,” she explained.
In the end, though, both Fifth Harmony and Camila have promised to be there for their fans no matter what, and vowed to come back with new music next year. We hope they’re able to put their differences behind them, though!
