With 538 electors gathering Dec. 19 to cast their final votes across the U.S., can we expect to see a change in the Electoral College vote to swing things away from Donald Trump? We’ve got your EXCLUSIVE answer to if the tycoon is worried about getting stripped of his title of President-Elect!
“Obviously people are hoping for the Electoral College to do one thing over another depending on where you lean on the subject, but one person that is not sweating it is Donald himself. He is confidant that nothing will happen and nothing will be done to change the outcome that would make major political waves or changes going into 2017,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. The 70-year-old lost in popular votes to Hillary Clinton, 68, in the Nov. 8 general election, but took home 306 votes in the Electoral College, far more than the 270 needed to secure the presidency.
“He is not putting any thoughts towards any unfamiliar situation occurring,” our insider adds. He has good reason to feel confident. 28 states have laws requiring electors to vote according to their state’s popular vote result so half the nation won’t be able to change anything. And there’s no chance that the election would go to Hillary, as she only has Democratic 232 electors. If for some insane reason there’s a tie or no one receives a majority of the vote — which would pretty much be unheard of — the decision would be sent to the Republican controlled U.S. House of Representatives, where each state would get one vote. That hasn’t happened since 1824!
In order for that to occur, 37 GOP electors would need to flip from their state’s popular vote and choose a different candidate in a “vote your conscience” type of move. But since there’s really no one else out there for them to vote for besides Donald, he’s most likely going to become the 45th President of the United States come Jan. 20, 2017.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Donald will make a good president? If so, why do you think he’ll be a good leader?
