Saying that Kate Beckinsale, 43, and Michael Sheen, 47, are proud parents would be an understatement! The two went absolutely bonkers after they found out their 17-year-old daughter Lily got into college — and they got SO carried away that Kate and Michael even engaged in a crazy bear hug despite the two being split up for 13 years.
We have to say though, we love the former couple’s over-the-top reaction — there’s no question that the family-of-three is in no short supply of enthusiasm! “The appropriate fatherly response when you find out your girl got into college: burst into tears, drop everything, rush over and pick up everyone even remotely involved,” Kate gushed over Instagram on Dec. 15. “@lily_beckinsale we are so unbelievably proud of you. Fly fly fly ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”

The touching message was accompanied by a split-screen photo of Michael lifting up his daughter in sheer joy and Michael and Kate hugging SO hard that Kate’s feet aren’t even touching the ground. Now THAT’S a family celebration! The sweet pic comes after Lily recently joked that her famous parents were going to stop her from getting into college.
Posting a selfie of the former couple with an embarrassed-looking Lily on Instagram, Kate wrote, “When your child is so excited to take a picture with her parents that it has tipped over into actual physical pain.” Lily hilariously responded to the snapshot writing, “You guys are the reason i won’t get into college.” Lucky for her, her star parents didn’t stop her from achieving this major milestone!
Kate and Michael began dating back in 1995, calling it quits in 2003, after welcoming Lily in 1999. But the former couple is so friendly that Kate is actually a huge fan of Michael’s current girlfriend Sarah Silverman, 46. “I love her. I love her. I love her,” the Underworld star said of the comedian earlier this year. “I am so glad Michael found her so I don’t have to spend the rest of my life looking for her!”
