Robin Thicke‘s first words about the death of his father, Alan Thicke, have us totally shaken to the core. The 39-year-old’s heart is clearly breaking over his father’s passing and what he said to The Los Angeles Times following the legendary Growing Pains actor’s death is truly touching.
Robin called Alan, “the greatest man I ever met,” and said the actor was “always a gentleman.” “I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him,” Robin told the news outlet. How beautiful is that? Robin and Alan clearly had an amazing relationship.
Alan’s son and his family were not the only ones to mourn the actor’s death, with other celebrities having spoken out on the tragedy, including Candace Cameron Bure, who had known Alan ever since she was a small child. “I’m sad beyond words that Alan Thicke has passed away,” Candace captioned her tribute post to Alan. “I’ve known you since I was 8 years old and so glad I had the pleasure of working with you again so recently on Fuller House. You were a part of my family and hockey family. You will be greatly missed. ❤️ My heart hurts.”
Alan died following a heart attack he had while playing hockey with his youngest son and Robin’s little brother, Carter Thicke, on Dec. 13. He was 69. Carter shared his own heartbreaking message on his father’s passing on Dec. 14 with a touching Instagram post. “Today I lost my best friend and my idol, and the world lost one of its finest,” Carter captioned a beautiful photo of him and Alan. “I have never known a more kind, loving, hairy and generous person in my life and I am forever grateful for the light that this man brought to my life and so many others. You will be missed every second of every day. You are a legend and I love you Pops. Until next time.”
