What drove Lamar Odom to check himself into rehab? Was it his divorce from Khloe Kardashian, or a more heartbreaking loss? A new report claims that the memory of his late son, Jayden Odom, was pushing Lamar closer to the edge and he sought help before it was too late!
Though it’s been more than a year since Lamar Odom’s near-fatal overdose in a Nevada brothel, it’s likely that another “anniversary” was the motivation behind his decision to enter rehab. Dec. 15 marks the birthday of his late son, Jayden Odom, and sources tell TMZ that the 37-year-old NBA champ feared “he’d go on a major bender” as that date fast approached.
Jayden, who was born in 2005 but passed away the following June from SIDS, was “the primary reason [Lamar] started doing hardcore drugs” in the first place, the source tells TMZ. After a difficult year, Lamar reportedly feared that he might be tempted to fall off the wagon. So, he decided to take the preventive measure and seek out professional help.
Lamar knew “the importance of maintaining his sobriety,” a source told E! News, and the former Los Angeles Lakers player checked himself in a San Diego, California facility. He’s planning a 60-day stint, according to TMZ. Lamar tried rehab in 2012, but left after only three weeks.
Along with the heartbreaking anniversary of Jayden’s birthday, Lamar also has to currently deal with the emotional baggage that comes with the formal end of his marriage with Khloe Kardashian, 32. The two reached a divorce settlement after first filing in 2013, and after Dec. 17, the two will no longer be married.
Despite their marriage about to be history and Khloe presently dating Cleveland Cavaliers star Tristan Thompson, 25, Lamar thinks he and Khloe could have a future together. Khloe “wanted him to check into rehab…for years,” a source EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife.com, and Lamar thinks that if she sees him getting his life together, she’ll have a better opinion of her soon-to-be-ex-husband. Whether it’s his impending divorce or the heartbreaking loss of his son that pushed him to go to rehab, here’s hoping Lamar gets the help he wants and needs.
Are you glad that Lamar checked himself into rehab, HollywoodLifers? Do you think it was the correct choice?
