It all comes down to this! The four finalists on Season 11 of ‘The Voice’ had one last chance to sing for America’s votes on the Dec. 12 episode, and with such talented artists in the Finals, it truly is anyone’s game. Catch up on everything that went down with our recap here!
Part One of the finale involves three performances from each finalist, Billy Gilman, Sundance Head, We McDonald and Josh Gallagher: A new cover, an original song and a duet with their coach. First up is Billy, who sings “My Way” by Frank Sinatra, once again taking on a BIG tune with no qualms. Obviously, it’s absolutely no surprise when he totally kills it, leaving the audience and coaches completely entranced!
Next, Adam’s second remaining artist, Josh Gallagher, debuts his brand new original song “Pick Any Small Town”, which he helped write, so he has a real personal connection to it. Is it just me, or could this song totally be on country radio right at this very moment?! SO good and right in Josh’s wheelhouse.
We is joined by her coach, Alicia Keys, for a rendition of “Ave Maria” next. The ladies have grown so close throughout this season, and with both of them boasting such powerful vocals, it’s truly an incredible, stunning performance.
Blake Shelton’s final remaining contestant, Sundance, sings his original song, “Darlin’ Don’t Go,” next. He wrote the song for his wife, and clearly has an emotional connection to it, which shines through as he takes the stage. Plus, he sounds great, of course!
Next is another duet, this time featuring Billy and his coach, Adam Levine. The guys team up to sing “Bye Bye Love” and it’s the perfect way for the frontrunner to loosen up a little and have some fun — we’re so used to seeing him sing serious ballads, but this was much different! Then, We sings her original song, “Wishes” which was written just for her by one of Alicia’s songwriter pals. It truly is a perfect tune for her, and she nails the performance.
Adam and Josh are an unlikely pairing, but the Maroon 5 singer is thrilled to have a country singer in the Finals — especially one he stole from Team Blake earlier this season! The guys take the stage together to perform “Smooth,” and it totally works despite their very different voices. Love it! The next duet features Sundance and Blake, and they actually perform one of the contestant’s dad’s songs, “Treat Her Right,” as a sweet tribute. It’s a full-on country show, and we’re totally lovin’ it!
Back on the stage for his last performance is Josh, who sings “Jack and Diane,” of course putting his own country twist on it, but still keeping it similar enough to the classic song we know and love. Amazing! Anyone else agree that that was truly an incredible song choice?
Sundance returns next, and for his cover song this week, he performs “At Last” by Etta James. Throughout this entire season, Sundance has proven he can take completely unexpected songs (i.e. Alicia’s “No One”) and make them totally his own, which is exactly what he does once again. SO EPIC!
Next up, Billy performs his original song, “Because Of Me,” which was originally going to be a Maroon 5 track, for the first time, and it’s the perfect thing to jumpstart his career again. Remember, Billy had a Top 40 hit as a child star, but his success was short-lived, and his run on The Voice is an attempt at a comeback — and it sure is working!
The final performance of the night is from We, who belts out Barbara Streisand’s “Don’t Rain On My Parade.” It is quite an incredible way to close out the show, with We’s powerful vocals stunning the crowd once again. Only one of these four singers can win, though, and it’ll all come down to America’s votes. The winner will be named during the Dec. 13 episode on NBC!
