Huge congratulations are in order for LeBron James, who appeared on the cover of ‘Sports Illustrated’ on Dec. 12 with the coveted title of Sportsperson of the Year. He wore a striking white suit and a ton of bling on the cover, but it’s another accessory that has people talking.
A round of applause for LeBron James, 31! The star Cleveland Cavaliers player graced the cover of Sports Illustrated on Dec. 12 after being named the magazine’s Sportsperson of the Year for 2016. Of course, the amazing athlete looked better than ever!
LeBron looked like straight-up money and power on the coveted cover, rocking a crisp white Cielo jacket over a super soft looking turtleneck sweater. He has a pair of tortoiseshell glasses peeking out of his pocket, and he’s totally drenched in bling. His dazzling watch is front and center, paired with a silver bangle and massive ring. However, another accessory caught the internet’s eye.
LeBron has a safety pin attached to his lapel, which HollywoodLife.com explained to you means that they are a “safe” person for anyone who might be afraid following Donald Trump winning the election, like immigrants, people of color or refugees that fear that their rights and protection will soon be lost. Basically LeBron is making a very public vow to help anyone who needs it and stand in solidarity with them. So touching!
LeBron has been very outspoken about how important it is for people to stay strong and hopefully in the new America. “If we continue the faith (as hard as it may be to do so) we will BE ALRIGHT!!” he wrote on Instagram on Nov. 9. “Parents and leaders of our children please let them know they can still change the world for the better! Don’t lose a bit of faith! They’re our future and we must remain stronger than ever!! Yes we all wanna lace up the boots, put on the hard hats and strike but that’s not the answer.”
