Louis Tomlinson, 24, took the stage at the season finale of the X Factor on Dec. 10, using every bit of strength to deliver a heartfelt performance of “Just Hold On” in honor of his mother Johannah Deakin, who recently passed away. After wowing the crowd, Louis took to Twitter to reveal what he was feeling in that powerful moment. He wrote, “That was harder than I ever imagined. I want to thank everyone around me and all of the amazing fans out there that made that so special!” Louis continued, “Feeling so much love around me and my family. Mum would have been so f*cking proud (sorry for swearing mum) love you!”
The former 1D singer, who recently went solo, continues to inspire with his musical prowess and captivating stage presence. His sky-rocketing career began on the X Factor stage, making it even more sentimental. It certainly was magnificent to see Louis standing with a microphone in hand, getting in the zone. The singer kept his composure throughout his soulful performance, leaving his mentor Simon Cowell in awe. He said, “You know, your mom was so proud of you Louis. Johannah tragically passed away in the early hours of Dec. 7, after losing her battle to leukemia. She was only 43 years old at the time. Shortly after, Louis released an emotional statement to his doting fans, who sent their sweet wishes upon hearing the sad news. “All the support has been incredible! Let’s do this together tonight,” he tweeted the morning of Dec. 10. We hope that Louis and his loved ones find peace very soon.
