It may be the most emotional performance in Louis Tomlinson’s entire life. Mere days after his mother, Johannah Deakin, passed away, the former One Direction member will pay tribute to her with an ‘X Factor’ performance. Don’t miss this event – find out when he’ll take the stage.
It was already going to be a powerful homecoming for Louis Tomlinson. The 24-year-old was returning toX Factor, the exact program that launched his career into superstardom. That alone would have put pressure on Louis to deliver. Now, with the death of his mother, Johannah Deakin, 43, on Dec. 7 weighing on his heart, Louis’s performance is going to be incredible — in a completely different way.
This not-so-much-of-a surprise appearance will take place on the Dec. 10 episode of X Factor (at 8pm GMT) according to The Mirror. He was initially supposed to launch his solo career by performing his debut single, “Just Hold On,” a dance floor jam that features superstar DJ Steve Aoiki, 39. That’s not longer the plan.
Yes, in the light of his mother passing away from an aggressive form of leukaemia, a club-banger doesn’t seem that appropriate, leaving some to suspect he’ll perform a somber, respectful tribute, per the Daily Star. It would be a fitting way to honor her – showing love to Johannah on the same stage that first turned Louis into a member of One Direction (while establishing him as an individual artist.)
Johannah, who raised Louis and his six siblings, lost her battle to cancer on Dec. 7, leaving behind a legacy of being an “incredibly selfless” woman who would “always look to put other people before herself,” according to the statement released after her passing. Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, 33, girlfriend to Louis’ former bandmate, Liam Payne, 23, send her love to Louis. “My heart breaks for you,” she tweeted.
It was almost as heartbreaking as Louis’s last message to his mother. The former 1D member recalled a happier time, sharing a picture with his mother when they were both smiling brightly. “I miss you so much,” he said, and that sadness is likely to be on stage of the X Factor finale when it airs on Dec. 10.
Our thoughts continue to go out to Louis and his family during this time of immeasurable grief.
