What the heck is Michonne up to? In a preview clip from the December 4 episode of ‘The Walking Dead’, the fearless female survivor draws out walkers with an eerie whistle. Click inside to watch!
Although she promised Rick (Andrew Lincoln) she would try to accept their new life under Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) rule, it seems Michonne (Danai Gurira) might be having trouble doing so. A preview from the December 4 episode of The Walking Dead shows her strolling down the road alone, armed with only her katana, and it sure seems like she’s on a mission to kill.
As Michonne continues to walk, seemingly following a trail of fluid in the center of the road, she is whistling the well-known nursery rhyme “The Farmer In The Dell.” Her whistle attracts not one, but two walkers out of the woods alongside the road, and once they are both following her she drops her backpack and turns around to slaughter them with her katana. One walker takes a nasty hit straight to the center of his skull, while the other gets his head chopped completely in half before stumbling to the ground. Yikes.
Could Michonne be trying to track the Saviors so she can find out where Negan is hiding? It’s possible, but as Entertainment Weekly also pointed out, the scene seems to be paying extreme homage to HBO’s The Wire. The scene is eerily similar to the one where The Wire‘s main character, Omar Little (Michael K. Williams), walks down a Baltimore street while armed and dangerous. It’s no secret that TWD creator Robert Kirkman and showrunner Scott Gimple are huge fans of The Wire, so this would just be their latest way of showing their love for the hit series that ended in 2008.
