Poor Shawn Mendes! The singer had to skip out on his scheduled Jingle Ball performance in San Jose on Dec. 1 because he was too sick to travel. Does this mean he’ll have to bow out of ‘Saturday Night Live’ on Dec. 3, too!?
Shawn Mendes, 18, HATES disappointing his fans, but sometimes, things are beyond his control — and that’s just what happened on Dec. 1. The 18-year-old took to Twitter to tell his eight million followers that he, unfortunately, wouldn’t be able to perform at the Jingle Ball show in San Jose because of a terrible illness!
“To my fans in the Bay Area, unfortunately I’m unable to perform at the iHeart Radio Jingle Ball in San Jose tonight,” he wrote. “I planned to fly to San Jose today, but am sick & doctors have told me I am unable to travel or perform. I am gutted and so sorry, and I will make it up to you. Thank you everyone & @iHeartRadio for understanding. Love you.”
He didn’t elaborate on exactly what was wrong, but we’re crossing our fingers that he starts feeling better soon. It’s especially important that he gets some rest because he has one of the biggest performances of his life coming up this weekend — he’s expected to take the Saturday Night Live stage with Emma Stone on Dec. 3!
There’s been no update regarding whether or not he’ll be well enough to fulfill that obligation, but we can imagine Shawn’s doing everything he can to make it happen. After that, he has a jam-packed week full of Jingle Ball shows, with performances on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday AND Sunday. Shawn — PLEASE get some rest this holiday season!!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Shawn will play Saturday Night Live this weekend?! What do you think of him pulling out of Jingle Ball?
