In case you weren’t paying attention 13 years ago, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica followed Jessica and her ex-husband Nick Lachey. In the series premiere, Jessica considers a can of Chicken of the Sea tuna and muses, “Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish? I know it’s tuna, but it says chicken…by the sea?” Nick then explains that it’s the tuna’s brand name. “A lot of people eat tuna and a lot of people eat chicken, so it’s like the ‘Chicken of the Sea,’” he tells her.
The Internet was barely a thing back then, but Jessica’s comment went viral as only something like that can. Jessica even participated in a Chicken of the Sea-inspired sketch on Saturday Night Live when she co-hosted with Nick in 2004 — check it out here! So funny.
Anyway, fans love that Jessica is making fun of her mistake so many years later. “I still remember the look Nick gave you,” one user commented on Instagram. “I took your word for it from the start Jessie,” another wrote. “I still laugh every time I see that episode!” Yep, this had us feeling pretty nostalgic, too!
