Talk about an epic duet! Miley Cyrus took ‘The Voice’ stage on Nov. 29 with her godmother, Dolly Parton, to perform a rendition of the country singer’s hit ‘Jolene,’ and it was beyond amazing. Oh, and the a cappella group, Pentatonix, joined in, too!
Miley Cyrus, 24, grew up listening to the music of her godmother, Dolly Parton, 70, so we can imagine it’s a dream come true for her whenever she gets to sing right alongside the country legend! The ladies got to do just that on the Nov. 29 episode of The Voice, where they performed “Jolene” with Pentatonix. With the a cappella group providing the beat in the background, Miley and Dolly matched in silver and black outfits, taking turns with the lyrics and even harmonizing on several occasions. Um, can these gals just form a duo — they’re so good together! Later, Pentatonix joined in for vocals, as well, and the whole thing was perfection.
Fans of Miley who might not be familiar with Dolly’s music got to know “Jolene” pretty well when the former Disney star uploaded a Backyard Sessions video of herself singing it to her YouTube page in 2012. Her loyal followers are still buzzing about that performance to this day, and it generated so much positive feedback, that Miley even sang a cover on her 2014 Bangerz tour!
And this was only one of the times Dolly took the stage during The Voice results show — she also performed her new song, “Circle Of Love,” alongside the remaining 10 contestants and Jennifer Nettles earlier in the evening!
This performance was actually a promotion for Dolly’s upcoming holiday movie, Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle Of Love, which airs on NBC Nov. 30 at 9:00 p.m, and stars both the 70-year-old and Jennifer. We can’t wait to check it out!
