We finally know more about the suspect in the Ohio State attack on November 28. Abdul Artan, 18, who was an OSU student, is allegedly responsible for injuring 10 victims; he was fatally shot by police during the encounter. Learn more about it after the jump.

1. He was fatally shot in the incident

Abdul Artan, 18, was named by law enforcement officials as the deceased suspect in the emergency at Ohio State University on November 28. He was fatally shot by police, according to an official statement about the incident from the university.

2. He allegedly injured 10 victims at OSU

Abdul was allegedly responsible for injuring 10 victims on campus — including one critically — by stabbing, “injury by motor vehicle,” and other unnamed injuries. The incident reportedly began when the suspect allegedly drove his car into a group of people who evacuated a campus building after a caller reported a gas leak.

The victims, initially reported as “at least seven” were transported to local hospitals, including OSU’s medical center. One victim was being treated at the scene, according to Columbus Fire Department officials. Their identities haven’t been released at this time.

3. He was a Somali refugee

Abdul was a Somali refugee who left the country with his family in 2007. They lived in Pakistan and then came to the United States in 2014. He was a legal permanent resident of the United States.

4. He allegedly attacked people with a butcher knife

While the emergency was initially reported to the OSU community and public as an active shooting, it was revealed that Abdul allegedly stabbed and cut their victims. He was allegedly wielding a butcher knife to harm the victims, according to OSU police chief Craig Stone. OSU student Jacob Bower, 20, told CNN that he saw a man who “pulled a large knife and started chasing people around, trying to attack them,”in the same area of campus the university named in its emergency alert.

Jamie told CNN that the suspect allegedly remained silent throughout the entire attack, never once yelling or speaking to anyone. “He was completely silent. Which was very creepy. Not even when he was shot.”
