Did Ms. Jackson accept the apology?! We all know that Andre 3000 sings to the mother of his baby mama Erykah Badu in the Outkast jam, and in a Nov. 23 interview with Erykah, she finally reveals how her mom really felt about the song. WATCH!
Erykah Badu, 45, tells Rap Radar that her mother totally embraced the Outkast track! Watch the full interview above.
“How did my mama feel? Baby, she bought herself a Ms. Jackson license plate,” Erykah says about the song in the interview. “She had the mug, she had the ink pen, she had the headband, everything. That’s who loved it.” So funny that her mom stocked up on merch!
“I still had a kind of sore spot [the first time I heard the song], like I don’t want to hear that, especially when I heard Big Boi’s verse,” Erykah adds. Totally understandable, considering the song is about the animosity between her mom and her ex.
“And then when I heard André’s verse, I felt very good because his verse was really, really inspiring,” Erykah admits. (As the verse goes, “Me and your daughter got a special thing going on/You say it’s puppy love, we say it’s full grown/Hope that we feel this, feel this way forever/You can plan a pretty picnic, but you can’t predict the weather, Ms. Jackson.”)
“He just told how he felt and I’ve always respected that and listened to what he felt and appreciated it,” Erykah explains. “So I liked it.”
If you haven’t heard this song — and you may be the only person on the planet who hasn’t — take a listen right here! It’s such a classic.
