It may be Thanksgiving but Sarah McLachlan is in the mood for Christmas! The three-time Grammy winner appeared at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Nov. 24, singing a delightful and heartfelt rendition of the holiday classic, ‘Silver Bells.’
Sarah, 48, is normally known as the woman whose song “Angel” scores those tear-jerking ASPCA commercials. Yet, after that performance, she may be known as the singer who helps everyone get into the Christmas spirit. When appearing at the 90th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City (while wearing an Eliza J sequin top and fur jacket) she gave a heavenly performance of “Silver Bells.”

It was a no brainer for Sarah to make an appearance at this annual holiday tradition. “I watch it every year,” Sarah said of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade when speaking to Keith Caulfield of Billboard’s Pop Shop podcast. “’I get to be in that?’ My kids are so excited.” Sarah also laughed that despite her and her family being Canadian, they still celebrate the American thanksgiving. “Any reason to have a turkey dinner,” she said. Indeed!
Though Thanksgiving is not over yet, for Sarah, she’s already celebrating Christmas with her brand new album of holiday songs. In fact, Wonderland is Sarah’s second Christmas album, as she released Wintersong in 2006. This time around, she has covered such classics as “Silver Bells,” “Angels We Have Heard On High,” and a version of Randy Newman’s “Snow.” She even got Emmylou Harris, 69, and Martha Wainwright, 40, to perform with her on “Go Tell It On The Mountain.”
The world better get used to seeing a lot of Sarah over the holidays. She has just dropped her new album, Wonderland, and she’s hitting almost every major event to promote it. She’s set to perform at NBC’s annual Christmas In Rockefeller Center, as well at the CMA Country Christmas special. She’ll even appear on Live With Kelly! On Dec. 8, according to Broadway World. How wonderful!
