She’s a movie star, a television icon and now – a national hero! Her name is Miss Piggy and she saved Tony Bennett’s life during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Nov. 24, as the legendary singer almost fell off a moving float! Click to watch this daring rescue.
Well, perhaps it wasn’t such a dramatic rescue that it would earn Miss Piggy the Medal of Honor, but she did keep Tony, 90, from falling on his butt during the Macy’s 90th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. The two had just finished their duet of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” when the float started to move!
It seemed Tony was caught off guard and lost his balance. Thankfully, his stunning co-star was there to save him, helping him regain his footing so he could safely ride the mobile Advent Calendar (with its collection of wooden soldiers and children counting down the days until Santa Claus’s arrival.)
Let’s be honest – at 90 years of age, a fall at any height could mean some serious damage to Tony, so Piggy really did save him from catastrophe. He’s okay, though! “Tony is great and thanks the crowd along the parade route for their warmth and he wishes everyone a very happy Thanksgiving,” his publicist, Stylvia Weiner, told the New York Post. Phew!

I have never seen a more amazing act of puppetry than Miss Piggy somehow catching a falling Tony Bennett. #MacysParade

Tony and Piggy were just two of the phenomenal singers participating in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. Grace VanderWaal, 12, was the cutest thing ever, as she rocked a pair of cat-ear earmuffs while singing “I Don’t Know My Name.” The America’s Got Talent winner definitely captivated everyone watching as her voice rang out through New York City. Just amazing.
Along with Tony, who sang about Father Christmas, Brett Eldredge, 30, was in the mood for a Winter Wonderland. Actually, he sang “Let It Snow,” which is just as good of a holiday song as any. He had some fierce competition when it comes to Christmas cheer, as Sarah McLachlan delivered a sweet version of “Silver Bells.” Oooh – it’s a Cheer-Off!
Miranda Lambert, 33, didn’t venture outside for her performances during the Thanksgiving Parades. The Texas native might have thought the Big Apple was a bit too cold, so she decided to turn up the heat with a pair of sizzling performances. Her songs were almost as hot as the star-covered dress she was wearing. Nice!
What was your favorite moment of the Thanksgiving parade, HollywoodLifers? Was it seeing Miss Piggy become a superhero and save Tony?
