Olympic champion figure skater and ‘DWTS’ season 6 winner Kristi Yamaguchi knows a thing or two about winning… and now, she’s predicting who will take home the mirrorball trophy before the ‘Dancing With The Stars’ season 23 finale! See who she is rooting for below!
I spoke to Kristi Yamaguchi on the phone on Nov. 22, just hours before the DWTS finale. I asked her if she had been watching this season!
“I try to keep up,” Kristi told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “I don’t watch every single episode but I definitely love to see what’s going on and see who is doing what. This has been such an incredible season. The people in the finals are all worthy, they are all incredible. Obviously, Laurie Hernandez is beyond, beyond, beyond. She’s incredible! I don’t think it would be a surprise if she won. James Hinchcliff has a legitimate chance, too. They are all really incredible. This finale is really exciting because it’s been an incredible year.”
She also spoke about whether Lauren has an “advantage” since she is a gymnast.
“There might be certain aspects you can bring to the table as a gymnast — obviously the power and the flexibility — but she has the musicality and the performance, the emotion that for someone her age, is beyond! Emotion, as an athlete, as a gymnast, you have to keep in check. So I think she is extraordinary. [She’s] so young, for what she does and how she does it, it’s mindblowing.”
You can watch Kristi host the Musselman’s Apple Sauce Family Skating Tribute on Sunday, November 27 on ABC.
“There is some live music from Dan & Shay, a really great up-and-coming band. It’s a great family-friendly, entertaining couple of hours and it airs this Sunday on ABC, really good timing for the holidays,” Kristi told us.
