Could the season seven theme already be out? It’s possible! This new seven-second clip, plus a hint that aired during the finale this week, could just be a misguide — it wouldn’t be their first time — or it could be a sneak peek at next season.
“Sweet Dreams.” That’s the title on the new preview that was shown following the finale of American Horror Story: Roanoke. When posted on the official show’s Instagram account, they captioned it with “The monsters are all gone.” The video itself just showed what looked like the middle of the ocean — and a few seconds in, it flashback to those little stick figures used in Roanoke that were too Blair Witch for my liking.
So why does this mean a cruise? Well, many others have pointed out that in the last scene of Roanoke you see a wooden ship crash to the floor — and the camera stays on it a moment too long just to be a coincidence, right?
Well whatever the idea ends up being, we know its a good one, as Ryan Murphy apparently sprang out of bed when he thought of it. . “It comes to me as it always comes to me,” says Murphy. “I have been mulling a couple of ideas and I wasn’t loving it. Then I was thinking of this other thing and I literally sat up and bed and said ‘That’s it!’ Whenever it happens it’s such a relief because it’s so much pressure.”
“It’s also a narratively strange idea,” the creator said of season 7. “I’ve already started to call people saying, ‘Put this on your calendar.’ It’s a good one.”
The theme for this upcoming season won’t be kept a mystery like season six’s theme was. That’s for season eight, which he’s calling his “secret” season. “I’ve been working with a writer on a season that only he and I know,” he said. “It’s like a 2 year project that we’ll continue to work to on it on the sly and not tell anybody.”
