‘The Daily Show’ staff is devastated over Donald Trump’s election — particularly because it means we have lost something very important: Facts. On the Nov. 16 episode, Trevor Noah dedicates an entire segment to slamming Trump by mourning the ‘loss of facts.’ Watch here!
“[Donald] Trump’s win last week has forced us to say goodbye to something many of us loved: The notion that telling the truth matters,” Trevor Noah explained on The Daily Show Nov. 16. “Because for several years now, Politifact has been fact-checking Donald Trump’s political statements, and they found that, while less than five percent of them qualified as true, 70 percent were mostly or completely false. So, we’re sad to see facts go. Yet another casualty of 2016. And we wanted to give them, at least, a proper sendoff.”
The footage then flipped to a mock funeral, where Daily Show staff said their goodbyes to the truth. “I always loved facts,” one comedian said. “I love them. As a kid, I would spend all day on the toilet reading fun ones.”
Staff members took turns standing up to give eulogies and say what they’ll miss most about facts. Then, they each started spewing out “facts” Donald presented throughout his campaign that have been proven untrue. And believe us, there’s a LOT of them!
Trevor has been vocal about his support of Hillary Clinton, 69, over Donald Trump, 70, in the 2016 election, and even though he’s able to make jokes about it, he’s been pretty distraught over the shocking results. Watch his latest sketch in the video above!
