Nick Gordon has been ordered to pay Bobbi Kristina Brown’s estate a whopping $35 million after being found liable for the young reality star’s death! Here’s the Nov. 17 breakdown.
Nick Gordon, 21, must pay Bobbi Kristina Brown‘s family $35 million — judge’s orders! Bobbi’s father Bobby Brown, 47, tearfully testified on Nov. 17, saying that his daughter had “unlimited earning potential” before Nick “helped her take her life”, as TMZ reports. That’s not an amount to sneeze at — though the estate originally reportedly wanted $40-50 million in the wrongful death suit.
In September, Nick was deemed “legally responsible” for Bobbi’s death. Now, Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford has ordered Nick to pay $35 million, according to multiple outlets. The amount is broken down into categories; the first is conversion, or stealing funds, at $1.5 million with punitive damages of $250,000, followed by assault and battery and medical damages at $1.3 million (as you may recall, Bobbi was kept alive on life support for months), plus $4.2 million because Nick had been using alcohol and drugs. Then there’s pain and suffering for $13 million, and loss of life at $15 million, which takes her net worth and “future potential income” into account. Wow!
“To determine the value of a life is pretty difficult. So the court has been back there primarily struggling with that particular issue,” Bedford told local news outlets. So heartbreaking. The judge also added that because Nick “failed to appear twice, anything alleged by the plaintiff [is] admitted through omission”, meaning that because Nick hasn’t shown up to defend himself, he is accepting the estates appraisal of Bobbi’s life.
Finally, Nick didn’t show up to court, and hasn’t been present throughout the case. Good luck getting a penny out of this guy!
