This is the best ‘Saturday Night Live’ promo ever! Kristen Wiig is returning to host her former show on Nov. 19, and in advance the cast has put together a mind-blowing mannequin challenge on the set of their iconic NBC studio. Keep reading to see the hilarious video.
Leave it to a team of professional comedians to put together an epic mannequin challenge! The folks at Saturday Night Live have just won the craze that’s sweeping America, and in honor of former show vet Kristen Wiig‘s upcoming hosting gig, they’ve put together the mother of all promos. Set to Rae Sremmurd hit “Black Beatles,” it opens with a Aidy Bryant managing to hold completely still while having just blown a giant bubble with her gum. Then the camera snakes past some stage techs going over cue cards and the script while everyone does their best to remain completely still.
Cecily Strong is seen in the makeup chair getting worked on and then the best surprise of all — the return of the David S. Pumpkins dancers! Squeal! We’re so glad that even though Halloween is over we haven’t seen the last of them. The camera then pans over to Pete Davidson, who is laughing at a coke bottle that is exploding in foam. How did they do that? We’re sure the prop geniuses at SNL cooked that one up to make the soda look frozen in time.
Colin Jost and Michael Che are shown kicking it behind their Weekend Update desk, while Kate McKinnon is dressed in costume, looking like she might be taking a hit off a smoke. Leslie Jones is smiling and taking a selfie and the camera swings around to reveal Kristen frozen still with the rest of the cast behind her. She’s grinning with her hands on her hips until she breaks pose to look off to the left and point to the graphics promoting her upcoming hosting gig. Leave it to Leslie to bring the laughs, coming up behind her and demanding “Why y’all standing still like this? Huh?” in total frustration before stomping off. Every time we think the mannequin challenge is starting to die out, we get another gem like this to keep the dare alive and well!
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of SNL‘s mannequin challenge? Was it up to par with other ones you’ve seen?
