Billy Gilman already has experience as a superstar singer, but he’s still learning from his coach, Adam Levine, on ‘The Voice’ every day. So, what’s the best piece of advice he’s gotten from the Maroon 5 singer so far? Billy dished all about it after his EPIC Top 12 performance!
Adam Levine knows what it takes to win The Voice, and he might just do it again this season with his team member, Billy Gilman! The two have been a perfect coach-artist pair since they chose each other during the Blind Auditions, and the former child star says he’s learned an invaluable lesson from his coach that’s helped really push him forward in the competition.
“Don’t let your voice overpower the lyric. Always feel it before you sing it,” Billy told HollywoodLife.com and other media outlets on the advice Adam’s given him. “Everything can be technical, but you got to feel it. That is the best advice a singer can give another singer, because you don’t exactly have to hit the note, you have to have people feel it — feel something!”
Clearly, Billy’s proven he has no trouble hitting the notes, but his ability to take those performances to the next level by adding emotion the last few weeks as really helped take him to the next level. Now, the former country singer has very clearly established himself as a front-runner in the competition, and he’s helped make Adam’s team a major force to be reckoned with.
Obviously, there’s some tough competition this year, with Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys, and Miley Cyrus all also boasting incredible artists. With 12 artists left and only four weeks to go until the highly-anticipated finale, a lot can happen, but as long as Billy keeps heeding Adam’s advice…it looks like he’s in a great position!
