GrubHub CEO, Matt Maloney, issued a very bold statement to all his pro-Trump employees on Nov. 10, telling them to resign if they are in support of his ‘hateful’ political rhetoric. After hearing of it, customers of the food delivery company began to freak out! See the tweets here.
Matt Maloney shocked his employees by sending a brazen email on Nov. 10, saying that anyone who agrees with Donald Trump’s cruel language should quit. It reads, “While demeaning, insulting and ridiculing minorities, immigrants and the physically/mentally disabled worked for Mr. Trump, I want to be clear that this behavior and these views, have no place at Grubhub.”
He continued, “If you do not agree with this statement then please reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here. We do not tolerate hateful attitudes.” After his message went viral, many customers took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the matter.
Just canceled #Grubhub on my phone. Not because I'm pro trump. I'm pro democracy. The people have spoken. You don't fire people over a vote

#grubhub it's not so much as of their vote, but whether or not they agree with his comments. There's a difference

The hashtag “boycottgrubhub” even began trending, since some felt he going too hard on his Republican staffers. Matt quickly reasoned that he didn’t want voters of Donald to quit, but more so those who would consider using “discriminatory activity or hateful commentary” at work. He further explained himself in the lengthy memo. “I want to affirm to anyone on our team that is scared or feels personally exposed, that I and everyone else here at Grubhub will fight for your dignity and your right to make a better life for you and your family here in the United States.”
People from all over slammed the GrubHub CEO for his claims, saying it was a bad business move and a mistake, while others defended what he was trying to say. This has definitely a trying time for the nation, given the divide after the shocking outcome of the 2016 presidential election. While several were convinced Hillary Clinton, 69, was going to win after doing so well in the polls, it didn’t turn out that way. Hopefully, we can all work together to get through these next four years as gracefully as possible.
