This is terrifying. Shortly after Donald Trump defied all odds to become elected as the next president of the United States, fights have broken out in front of the White House. With the nation in divide after the shocking turn of events, protesters and supporters are more heated than ever.
Shock waves were sent through the nation when Donald Trump, 70, was elected as the 45th president of the United States. While some voters saw his historical win coming, others were in utter disgust that was able to secure the position after his controversial remarks towards women and minorities. Supporters of both candidates were at each others throats after the results were announced, leading to high-tension fights outside of the White House. Many Hillary Clinton voters were seen yelling, “F–k Donald Trump,” while others in “Make America Great Again” hats yelled back, “This is OUR country.” The outcome has sparked protests across the country.

Hundreds of people from California campuses like Berkeley, Irvine, Davis and San Jose State have marched in anti-Trump protests, yelling expletives while slamming our electoral system. Students in Portland, Oregon have also shared videos of people burning the U.S. flag, while others throughout the nation have shown demonstrators setting trash cans on fire and shattering windows. Many were seen chanting, “Not our president!” It certainly has been a shocking turn of events, after Hillary was slated to win in all the polls. She called her opponent to concede defeat around 3 am EST and has since offered to work beside Donald to unite our country.
Celebrities have also voiced their disapproval over Donald’s shocking win, now being forced to embrace the reality that we have a new president-elect. Lady Gaga protested in front of Trump tower on Nov. 9, holding up a “Love Trump Hate” sign. Katy Perry also took to Twitter, writing, “Do not sit still. Do not weep. MOVE. We are not a nation that will let HATE lead us.” Hopefully, in a state of nationwide divide, we will be able to come together very soon.
