What was supposed to be a huge celebration in honor of Hillary Clinton becoming our first female president turned to shocking sadness for two of her biggest supporters, Katy Perry, 32, and Lady Gaga, 30. The pair had gathered in New York City’s Javits Center along with thousands of other supporters as the buzzy joy turned to utter shock as Donald Trump, 70, picked up state after state as the election results came in. The two singing superstars were captured in a moment of comfort when they realized that Hillary’s chance at the White House was officially over.

The poignant photo was taken by mutual pal Derek Blasberg, who was there with them at the star-studded affair. He posted the intimate pic to his Instagram and in the caption said, “I took this picture of @katyperry and @ladygaga last night at the Javits Center, where everyone had come to celebrate our first female president. It was taken when Pennsylvania’s ballots were counted, and it felt officially over.” Gaga is seen holding Katy’s shoulder from behind as the “Roar” Singer grabs her hand gives her a stunned expression.

After reality set in that Donald had become our new President-Elect, both ladies took to their Twitter accounts in the early morning hours of Nov. 9. Gaga changed her handle from her name to #CountryOfKindness and pledged to, “Stand up for kindness, equality and love.”

Katy retweeted her post with the message “We will never be silenced,” followed by a series of defiant posts:

Katy was so upset by Donald’s win that she changed her Twitter cover photo and profile pic to just a blank black screen. She’s clearly in mourning over Hillary’s loss and after all the hard work she put in for her campaign, she has to be absolutely devastated by the election’s outcome.

HollywoodLifers, how do you feel about the election’s outcome? Are you happy Donald won or were you rooting for Hillary like Katy and Lady Gaga were?
