Uh oh. Colin Kaepernick made the choice NOT to cast his ballot for either presidential candidate on Election Day and some fans are livid! Many have blasted his hypocrisy for trying to be a civil rights role model, but not exercising his right to vote. See the angry tweets here.
Colin Kaepernick, 29, seemed to be a maverick for change when he took a knee during the National Anthem in Aug., sparking a nationwide conversation about police brutality. But, when the San Francisco 49ers quarterback had an opportunity to make his voice heard in the 2016 Election, he decided to opt out of the process entirely. He revealed to reporters on Nov. 8 that he didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton, 69, or president-elect Donald Trump, 70. This caused fans to feel outraged by his controversial choice, since they viewed it as the ultimate hypocrisy.

#ColinKaepernick not voting was foolish. He has a voice on a large platform. He wants change (like so many of us) & did nothing yesterday.

Bruh #ColinKaepernick really came out and told everyone he didn't vote. That isn't gonna bode well for him.

Many are disappointed that Colin didn’t take a stand, since he was able to start a movement with his peaceful protest on the field. One fan wrote, “Not voting was foolish. He has a voice on a large platform. He wants change (like so many of us) & did nothing yesterday.” Colin revealed why he wasn’t going to be choosing Hillary or Donald after one big debate in Sept., noting how he didn’t trust either. “Both are proven liars, and it almost seems like they’re trying to debate who’s less racist… And at this point you have to pick the lesser of two evils. But in the end, it’s still evil.” He added, “It was embarrassing to watch that these are our two candidates.”
Despite the controversy surrounding Donald on the campaign trail, the Republican candidate was able to defeat all odds and win the race. After taking the lead in several battleground states like Florida, North Carolina and Ohio, it became more apparent that he was going to become the 45th President of the United States. Hillary has since come forward with an inspiring concession speech, helping to unite the national divide after the shocking election results.
HollywoodLifers, do YOU think Colin should have voted or is it not a big deal? Let us know!
