That was incredible. OneRepublic slayed the MTV EMAs with an emotional and rain-soaked performance of their song ‘Let’s Hurt Tonight.’ We’re never going to get over that performance.
Ryan Tedder, 37, and the rest of the band hit the stage to sing their new single. Ryan’s voice was so on point for the performance. Those high notes he hit during “Let’s Hurt Tonight” gave us chills. During the performance, rain began pouring down from above the band. Ryan and the band soon got soaking wet on stage. They kept on performing like it was nothing. The performance was definitely one of the most memorable ones of the night! Rock on, OneRepublic!
Before their performance, OneRepublic said they were so excited to perform and they were “doing something we’ve never done before.” They noted that they were “going to need a change of clothes” after the performance!
The band just released their new album, Oh My My, in Oct. 2016. The album is unlike anything OneRepublic has ever done before. It’s a whole new song for the band. “If you’re able to connect with something really different that people don’t expect,” Ryan told Vogue. “That’s the best kind of song to have.” OneRepublic took a huge risk, and it paid off big time.
OneRepublic wasn’t nominated for any awards this year, but they will be next year after that amazing performance! The Weeknd, 26, Shawn Mendes, 18, Bruno Mars, 31, Martin Garrix, 20, DNCE, Zara Larsson, 18, and more amazing musicians performed during the show. Justin Bieber, 22, DNCE, Fifth Harmony, Coldplay, Zara Larsson, 18, and Shawn all won big awards at the EMAs. Green Day took home the Global Icon award and ended the show with an epic performance.
