It looks like Jennifer Lawrence has finally found love again, this time with much older director Darren Aronofsky. The actress was spotted putting on plenty of PDA with the acclaimed auteur in New York Nov. 2, so let’s get to know five things about J-Law’s alleged new boyfriend.
1. Darren is well-educated.
His parents were both public school teachers so he knows the value of a good education. He attended Harvard University where he studied social anthropology and filmmaking, ultimately choosing to work in movies. He received his Masters in Fine Arts from the prestigious American Film Institute Conservatory.
2. Darren’s genius at filmmaking was recognized with awards and acclaim for his very first movie.
His 1997 debut Pi screened at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival, where he was named Best Director and the picture was up for the grand jury prize. It also won Best First Screenplay and Best First Feature at the Independent Spirit Awards. He made the psychological thriller for a shoestring $60,000 borrowed from family and friends and it went on to gross over $3 million, receiving strong praise from critics.
3. Darren’s films often center around strong-willed yet self-destructive characters.
Just look at Mickey’s Rourke‘s washed up Randy “The Ram” Robinson looking for a comeback in 2008’s The Wrestler, or Natalie Portman‘s obsessed prima ballerina Nina in 2010’s Black Swan to see how he can show brilliance and torment with such darkness.
4. Darren was engaged to actress Rachel Weisz and they have a son.
He met Rachel, 46, in London in 2001 when she was starring in a play. She moved to New York to be with him and they became engaged in 2005. A year later in May 2006, they welcomed their first and only child Henry. The couple never made it to the altar though, breaking up in 2010 yet remaining friends so they could co-parent their son.
5. Darren, 47, directed Jennifer, 26, in her latest film.
Darren both wrote and directed Jennifer’s latest picture, even though the project has been kept under tight secret. It filmed during summer 2016 and its subject title and subject matter still remain a mystery. We do know that other cast members include Ed Harris, Michelle Pfieffer, Javier Bardem and Domhall Gleeson and it has a 2017 release schedule. With Darren’s tendency towards dark subject matters, we’re pretty sure this won’t be a comedy!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Jennifer and Darren are a good match? Or is their age difference too much?
