Breathe easy, Val Kilmer fans — the actor isn’t in bad condition like Michael Douglas made it seem. After Michael alleged that his friend had throat cancer and wasn’t doing well, Val took to Facebook to clear up the rumors…and deny any health problems!
“I love Michael Douglas, but he is misinformed,” Val Kilmer, 56, wrote on Facebook on Nov. 1. “The last time I spoke to him was almost two years ago, when I asked him for a referral for a specialist to get a diagnosis for a lump in my throat.”
Michael was diagnosed with Stage IV throat cancer in 2010, so he was obviously a good point person for Val to get a recommendation from. In his Facebook post, the 56-year-old confirmed that he got checked out by a team at UCLA and that “no cancer whatsoever” was found. “I still have a swollen tongue and am rehabbing steadily,” he explained, before describing all the work he’s been up to in the last few years to confirm he hasn’t been in poor health.
“Some fans have mistakenly thought my silence about my personal issues meant that somehow I wasn’t being responsible to my health, because of my reliance on prayer and Love,” he added. “Nothing could be further from the truth. Altho, I am very grateful for all the support from around the world, when people found out I had a physical challenge. I hope this puts to rest any further concerns about my health by publications that have no respect for the truth. Whatever led Michael Douglas to speculate about my health, he’s a loving and devoted friend to a privileged group of talent people around thew world, and I’m sure he meant no harm.”
HollywoodLifers, are you glad Val denied the throat cancer rumors?
