The beautiful tribute was followed by an epic series of Dolly songs performed by the night’s biggest stars! Reba McEntire, 61, performed “9-5” and it was outstanding! Kasey Musgraves, 28, owned her rendition of “Here You Come Again”. Then, Martina McBride, 50, was joined by Carrie Underwood, 33, for “I Will Always Love You”. After that, everyone joined together to finish out the tribute and Dolly looked so happy to see her hits being brought back to the CMAs stage!
Dolly stepped up to the stage to receive the Willy Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award and she made the best acceptance speech of the night! She cracked many jokes and even mentioned Jennifer and Pentatonix on their many talents! “I really am very proud to receive this,” the singer said as she made the crowd roar with laughter with her Nelson jokes.
Before she hit the stage, Jennifer tweeted a slow motion video of her dancing with joy over the fact that she was about to sing Dolly’s epic song! “When you’re about to sing for Dolly Parton,” she captioned the adorable video.
