This is just tragic. Prince Filippo Corsini, a member of the Italian royal family, has died at the much-too-young age of 21. He was injured in a horrible cycling accident, and passed away on Oct 31. Get all of the details right here.
Prince Filippo Corsini unfortunately did not survive when a truck struck him on his bicycle in London, multiple outlets report. He was just 21.
The prince was on his way to Regent’s University, according to reports, and was studying international business there. Eyewitnesses say that after he was struck outside luxury department store Harvey Nichols, the Florentine noble was dragged across an intersection for almost 30 yards before medical officials were called. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to “catastrophic injuries”, and the individual driving the truck has been arrested on suspicion of death by careless driving charges.
Regent’s University released an official statement on Nov. 2: “Our thoughts and condolences are with Filippo’s family at this difficult time and also with all of his friends, fellow students and tutors. Filippo was a first-year BA International Business student who was held in high esteem by all.”
Friends of the royal heir left notes at the scene of Corsini’s tragic death, per the Evening Standard. “He was a wonderful person and he always wanted to have some big plans for the future. He was very independent and ambitious,” one friend wrote. Corsini’s housemate Guccio Gucci Ludolf, who belongs to the Gucci fashion house dynasty, said, “You are unique, I never knew a person so full of energy, always smiling and ready to make others laugh…we were together for so much time and despite all our fights I am laughing with a sadness that will never end.”
The Corsini family has not yet commented on the loss.
