Wait, what? Ronda Rousey stopped by ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ Nov. 1 to talk about her upcoming fight with Amanda Nunes, and she dropped a major bombshell! If you weren’t going to tune into her next fight in December, you may want to. The UFC champ could be leaving the octagon sooner than you thought!
Ronda Rousey, 29, will finally make her heavily awaited return to the octagon in December! She is set to take on Amanda Nunes, 28, for the women’s bantamweight title at UFC 207 in Las Vegas. As we gear up for the highly anticipated fight, Ronda just shocked the world with a sad admission. “This is definitely one of my last fights,” she said of her upcoming match against Amanda, on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Nov. 1! OMG. Watch the insane moment below…
Ronda began discussing how she trains twice a day in preparation of her next fight. Then Ellen, 58, said, “So now you’re gonna fight this fight and you will win, I assume. How much longer will you keep fighting cause ya know it’s a dangerous business.” The Olympic medalist replied, “Not that long. I’m wrapping it up. This is definitely one of my last fights.” Say it ain’t so?
Clearly shocked, Ellen questioned her — “One of your last fights?” And, Ronda sadly confirmed her original answer. “Yeah, everyone better watch because the show isn’t gonna be around forever,” she said. Well, we were going to watch her fight against Amanda anyway, but now we will DEFINITELY be watching in December.
Ronda explained how fighting is a very tiring sport, and you can’t really fault her there. “I think it’s more the build up that’s more tiring than anything else,” she revealed. “If we had a fight right now I’d fight right now and then go get dinner and I wouldn’t be that tired about it. It’s like the weeks and weeks of build up before hand when you know you’re fighting this one person and it’s the most important thing in your whole life and then millions of people are watching. It’s that build up for weeks on end if it just happened right now I wouldn’t be nervous at all it’s the waiting.” Wow. We can’t even imagine how grueling everything really is for her.
It’s been quite a tough road for Ronda, although she remains one of the best fighters the UFC has ever seen. She hasn’t stepped into the ring since her devastating and dangerous first loss to Holly Holm, 35, at UFC 193 in Nov. 2015. Ronda was knocked out in the second round due to a strong kick to face by Holly. Ronda’s injury landed her on the medical suspension list by the UFC for over a month. December’s matchup is sure to be a good one, as Ronda told Ellen she’s “feeling good” and “finally in super ninja, good mode.”
