It’s no secret that Blake Shelton has literally changed Gwen Stefani’s entire life, and in a new interview, she’s opening up even more about how he helped her move on. Besides just being there for her, the country singer was also her biggest inspiration — and hearing her gush about it is too cute!
Gwen Stefani, 47, is one of Glamour’s Women of the Year for 2016, and it’s a title that couldn’t be more deserved. In her interview for the mag, the singer dishes all about her “mind-blowing” year, which featured a new hit album, unexpected tour, and, of course, the development of her romance with Blake Shelton, 40.
“Finding somebody who was going through the exact same experience [as me]? That was an inspiration,” Gwen tells Glamour. “He was a friend to me when I needed a friend. An unexpected gift. And that became an inspiration in the songwriting.”
Gwen hasn’t been shy about admitting that Blake literally saved her life after her divorce from Gavin Rossdale — the pair’s relationship blossomed on The Voice after he went through his own split from Miranda Lambert, 32. It was a completely unexpected romance — he’s a country boy from Oklahoma and she’s a punk rock chick from California — but Gwen says they have more in common than we’d think.
“It’s definitely two different cultures,” she admits. “But there are many similarities, in things that we love and our morals. But it’s really fun when you can learn about so many new things and share those differences.”
Clearly, Blake and Gwen are at a great place in their relationship; after all, she just committed to coaching alongside him on Season 12 of The Voice next spring, and that’ll go all the way until the end of May, so they must have a LOT of faith that they’ll be able to stick it out! We’re here for it!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Gwen calling Blake her inspiration? Do you think they’re going to make it as a couple?
