It was the final night of Knockout Rounds on the Oct. 31 episode of ‘The Voice,’ and by the end, the Top 20 was be revealed! Plus, with just one Steal left, tensions were higher than ever for the artists. Read our full recap to find out who the coaches are bringing to the Live Playoffs!
The first Knockout pairing of the night is Austin Allsup and Gabe Broussard from Blake Shelton’s team. Austin chooses “Breakdown” by Tom Petty as his song for this crucial round, while Gabe goes with Bruno Mars’ “It Will Rain” to show off a different side of his voice. Both guys are beyond incredible, but their coach can only bring one to the Live shows — and he goes with his country boy, Austin.
Next up, Miley Cyrus’ contestants Darby Walker and Maye Thomas work with their coach and this round’s advisers, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, to perfect their performances. Darby sings “Shake It Out” by Florence & The Machine, which she’s been inspired by in real life, and Maye performs “Closer” by Tegan & Sara. Miley has a LOT of trouble making the decision, but in the end, she chooses Darby to move forward.
Adam Levine’s singers Brendan Fletcher and Nolan Neal are the next duo to compete in Knockouts. For his performance, Brendan decides to sing “Soul Shine” by the Allman Brothers, while Nolan goes with Steven Tyler’s “Love Is Your Name,” which is the song he decided he should’ve sang during Season 10, when no chairs turned around for his original choice. Adam says choosing one of these guys might be the “hardest choice I’ve ever had to make,” but he has to do it, and he opts to keep Brendan, completing his team of five.
Michael Sanchez and Sa’Rayah are Alicia Keys’ final Knockout pairing. Sa’Rayah was stolen from Team Miley in the Battle Rounds, and she knows she has a lot to prove with her rendition of Chaka Khan’s ‘Ain’t Nobody.” Meanwhile, Michael decides to perform”Just The 2 Of Us,” and both singers total nail it when they take the stage. Even though Michael is probably one of the most talented artists this season, Sa’Rayah just did something her coach could NOT turn down, and she gets to stay on the show.
Blake’s final Knockout duel is between Dana Harper and Karlee Metzger. Dana sings “You Give Me Something” by James Morrison, and Karlee picks “Invincible” by Kelly Clarkson. Blake struggles to make a final decision, but finally lets us know he’ll be taking Dana to the Live Playoffs. We also find out that Miley chooses Sophia Urista over Josette Diaz in another tough Knockout.
The final pair of the night is between Miley’s contestants Josh Halverson and Aaron Gibson, and since we know Alicia still has her Steal left, we, as viewers, go into the performances knowing both guys will eventually move on. Aaron decides to slow things down with a sultry version of Thomas Rhett’s “Die A Happy Man,” while Josh picks “Whiskey And You,” which just so happens to be by adviser Tim McGraw! Both guys completely move the crowd with their songs, and Miley has a tough choice to make. She decides to keep Aaron on her team, but obviously, it’s not the end of the road for Josh — he’s BACK on Team Alicia now after an amazing final Steal!
