Can’t a girl just dance anymore? Professional ballerinas were quick to slam Kendall Jenner’s ‘Vogue’ Spain shoot, in which she wore a tutu and faked her way through plies. Now, the supermodel is fighting back! Read the message she wrote to haters, here.
It’s a model’s job to act like a chameleon, and transform into different versions of themselves. Kendall Jenner, 20, apparently had no idea that she was going to be posing as a ballerina until she showed up on Vogue Spain‘s set. She put on a tutu, pointe shoes, and did her best to capture the essence of a ballerina. Unfortunately, pro dancers didn’t like her portrayal, and took to Twitter to share their disapproval. Now, one month after the fact, the supermodel is barking back.
“It’s so funny that people are getting pregnant and married—or having crazy drama—but my drama is ballerinas being upset at me,” she wrote on her personal blog. “With my Vogue Spain shoot, I didn’t even know I was going to be a ballerina until I went into hair and makeup. I never said I knew ballet and I didn’t practice beforehand. I just show up to do my job!”
Ballerina Mickaela Maxwell wrote, “Kendall’s “ballet” shoot has me so heated. Stay in your lane Kendall Jenner, ballet requires more talent than you will ever have,” while Stephanie Kedra added, “Kendall Jenner is an insult to the industry of ballet. #sorrynotsorry.” Even Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller was spreading hate!
“I have so much respect for women who do their jobs really well and would never purposely try to offend anyone,” continues the covergirl. It confuses me how people can get that upset when there are so many important things going on in the world. But, it’s obviously not going to stop me from working hard and being me.” Preach, Kenny!
