Halloween is a night full of bone-chilling costumes, but in these throwback photos, some of horror’s biggest stars are unrecognizable without wearing a mask! From Jamie Lee Curtis of ‘Halloween’ to ‘Beetlejuice’ himself, Michael Keaton, see these frighteningly fun pics.
Yes, even scream queens, “ghosts with the most” and mad scientists had to go too high school, as these pictures, provided by Classmates.com, show. Though, the high school prom wasn’t really the magical night that Carrie White hoped it to be.
Sissy Spacek, 66, brought Carrie’s titular character to life in terrifying telekinetic fashion. However, Sissy’s picture shows the scream queen looking quite serene – probably because she’s not covered in blood.
Annie Wilkes likely discovered her love of author Paul Sheldon in her high school English class. Annie was brought to life by Kathy Bates, 68, in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s Misery. Her throwback picture has her look like an angel, while Annie was anything but. It’s even more amazing to see Kathy’s picture considering her amazing transformations on American Horror Story.
That young quiet guy in biology might have grown up to bring the dead back to life, as Gene Wilder (who would go on to play Dr. Frederick Frankenstein in Mel Brooks‘ Young Frankenstein would show.) Sadly, Gene passed away on Aug. 28, but he will be in the hearts of every horror fan this Halloween.
Babysitting is a great after-school job – just ask Laurie Strode. Except, Laurie probably got out of the babysitting business after one bad Halloween. Jamie Lee Curtis, 57, often considered one of the biggest “scream queens” in horror history, fought off Michael Myers to survive the horrible holiday. Her throwback picture shows an innocent woman who had no idea she would launch her career thanks to a silent killer armed with a butcher knife.
Who knows what Beetlejuice studied in school – AP Hauntings? Internal Biology? Drama? Either way, Michael Keaton’s, 65, high school photo clearly looks nothing like the putrid poltergeist he portrayed in Tim Burton’s movie. Just be careful not to say his name three times while you’re looking through the gallery, as there are plenty more creeps, ghouls and “final girls” inside to see!
Which one of the photos was your favorite, HollywoodLifers? Were you surprised by how some of your horror stars looked when they were younger? Doesn’t this put you in the mood for Halloween?
