Taylor Hicks’ petrifying plane story is our worst nightmare realized. The ‘American Idol’ champion’s life flashed right before his eyes when the engines fueling his private jet exploded mid-air! Read all the details of his traumatic flying experience, here.
We literally have to catch our breath after hearing what happened to Taylor Hicks, 40, and his private plane. We’ve seen movies like Sully that share stories of emergency landings, but Taylor’s horrifying experience is the real deal. The American Idol champion was on his way to Alabama from Tennessee when his jet’s engines exploded mid-air! The wing was immediately drenched in oil, which is when Taylor knew something awful was happening.
Thankfully, the plane was able to make an emergency landing at a rural airport in Jasper, AL. Taylor and the two other passengers aboard made it out of the situation unharmed but were pretty shaken up. “I was asleep in the co-pilot chair when I woke up to this muttering sound,” he explains to TMZ. “Two of the pistons blew, oil went everywhere, the engine stopped and the blade just stopped mid-air.” Yikes!
If you loved watching Taylor on season 5 of American Idol, we’ve got good news for you! The iconic singer is actually launching his own food and travel show, called Slate Plate. Taylor plans to travel to all 50 states in search of some of their most “distinctive” foods, but after this plane incident, is he going to board future flights as if nothing ever happened? If the same thing happened to us, we’d probably never step into an airport again! Keep your eyes peeled for Slate Plate as its scheduled to debut sometime this Fall. If you think his music is good, just wait until you see some of the delicious meals he uncovers across America.
HollywoodLifers, aren’t you so thankful that Taylor survived that scary plane explosion?
