We could all use more laughter in our lives — and the New York Comedy Festival is right around the corner. The 13th annual festival has talent from across the board, including someone for all tastes. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming fest in New York City.
When and where is it?
This year’s New York Comedy Festival runs from Tuesday, November 1 – November 6, in all five boroughs of New York City. For the full schedule and tickets, head to the website. It is located at many different venues, some big and small.
How did it start?
Caroline Hirsch was the founder of Caroline’s in New York City. After discovering so many now famous comedians (like Jerry Seinfeld and Paul Reubens), she decided to partner with Comedy Central to create the New York Comedy Festival in 2004. Now, it’s on its 13th year.
It’s seriously star-studded stars are aligned.
Trevor Noah, Tracy Morgan, Marc Maron and Tig Notaro are all set to perform at this year’s New York Comedy Festival; it actually has over 200 comedians performing in 60 shows across all five boroughs!
It was pushed up to focus on the election.
Caroline could not have been happier to get Trevor Noah and Bill Mahar to sign on for this year, especially with the focus on the election. “What more could you ask for than to have those two right before the election? The festival is usually the first two weeks in November, but we decided to push it before so that we could have those comments about what’s happening through the election,” she told us. “And yes, everybody’s gonna bring it up. It’s going to be part of the fabric of the festival.”
