Evan Rachel Wood let Jimmy Fallon in on some ‘Westworld’ dirt when she showed up on ‘The Tonight Show’ on Oct. 24. You have to hear what Evan said about how she gets into character, and what we learned from a new clip from an upcoming episode! Get the scoop right here.
Evan Rachel Wood, 29, has us totally captivated with her performance as Dolores Abernathy on HBO’s new sci-fi smash hit Westworld. And it looks like Jimmy Fallon, 42, is a huge fan too, if his excitement over Evan’s appearance on The Tonight Show is any indication. With everything that is currently going on in the series, we are having a hard time keeping things straight — though we have more than a few theories! So, we were ecstatic when Evan gave us some behind the scenes scoop on what it’s like to play a robot.
Evan said she actually has to ask a lot of questions you wouldn’t normally think of to play the role properly. “There’s tons of things that make it trickier,” Evan said. “I mean you have to ask different questions as an actor. And we ended up nicknaming them ‘bot thoughts.’ Because we would have moments where I’m like, ‘Do I squint in the sun? Am I affected by this? Is this part of my programming?'” Evan said to a roar of laughter from the audience. “So we would always have to stop and go ‘Ah, I got a bot thought. Is this analysis mode? Or character? Where am I right now?” Then Jimmy totally took the “bot thought” joke and ran with it. “Does my robot like bananas or we don’t like bananas? Just a quick bot thought!” he joked.
We were then treated to a scene from the upcoming Oct. 30 episode of the show, entitled “Contrapasso,” which totally screwed with our heads. In the clip, Evan’s character, Dolores, is talking to a human she is becoming close with, William (Jimmi Simpson), who mentions “the real world.” Dolores, who isn’t supposed to pick up on that kind of thing, questions him about this “real world.” Oh boy, someone might be becoming self aware! Okay, so after THAT, we could not be more excited for the next episode of Westworld. Of course, we still have more questions than answers, but Evan definitely gave us something to chew on until Oct. 30!
