What a beautiful moment! For the 1st time ever, mom Nicole McDonald got to hold her baby boy Jadon alone after he was separated from his twin brother Anias. The two were separated during a historic 27-hour surgery, and while the journey has been super emotional for the twins’ parents, Nicole says she believes it’s all been worth it to reach this precious milestone!
Nicole McDonald, the mother of the twins — Jadon and Anias McDonald, 13 months — who were successfully separated in a 27-hour surgery last week, was FINALLY able to hold one of her sons for the first time on Oct 23. Talk about a touching moment! And in an emotional post on Facebook, Nicole described how it had been her goal to rock her baby son Jadon since he was born — something she could not do when her sons were conjoined at the head.

“For over 13 months, I’ve dreamed of this moment,” she wrote on the social media site, according to CNN. “I looked down at Jadon’s angelic face and saw him in a way I’d never seen him before. He whimpered for almost the whole two hours I held him because he had just been extubated, had the area under his scalp washed out and had been weaned from the good pain meds.”
The mother continued, “But instead of wrapping my body around him in his bed, I wrapped my arms around him and rocked. One of the most profound moments of my life.” SO beautiful, right? In the heartwarming pic of Nicole cradling little Jadon, the mother can be seen smiling down at her son as she sits in a chair in a Montefiore Medical Center hospital room, which is located in the Bronx.
The moment was made possible once doctors removed Jadon’s breathing tube. Anias, however, still has his breathing tube in, which means his mom has not yet been able to hold him. Anias in general has actually been much slower to recover from the separation surgery that took place on Oct. 14. But doctors thought this may be the case since the little boy suffered from breathing issues, seizures, and heart problems even before the surgery.
Unfortunately, the boys’ father, Christian, was not at the hospital when his wife got to hold Jadon. And by the time he returned, the child was too fussy to be held again. Even so, Christian expressed he was very glad that his wife got to experience the special moment at last. “I was just happy Nicole got to hold him,” the father told CNN. “She’s been longing to hold him since the day the twins were born. That’s a very special moment for a mother to share.”
