A ‘Westworld’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ crossover would be the greatest thing ever! Well, it could definitely happen. ‘Game of Thrones’ author George R.R. Martin was the one to mention it, so what’s holding the crossover back? Here’s what we know!
George, 68, thought about a Westworld and Game of Thrones crossover even before Westworld aired on HBO. George told Westworld showrunners Jonathan Nolan, 40, and Lisa Joy over dinner a few months ago, according to Entertainment Weekly. Lisa said it was “flattering” that he would “encourage a crossover” between the two shows.
The crossover would have to involve a Westeros World filled with android hosts of the Game of Thrones characters. Daenerys, Jon Snow, Tyrion, Cersei would all have to be there, of course. Honestly, who wouldn’t be down for this? If you think about it, the opening credits of Game of Thrones look eerily similar to what a world created in Westworld would look like.
However, there’s just one thing holding Lisa back from fully embracing this Westworld/Game of Thrones crossover. “I need to be believe that dragons are real,” Lisa told the outlet. “I want them be a real thing. So as much as I love George, I can’t lose that for myself!”
Seriously, George and the Westworld showrunners need to make this happen. If George approves, then you know it’s a good idea. Game of Thrones just wrapped up its sixth season in June 2016. The hit HBO show is currently filming its seventh season, which will air in 2017. Westworld premiered in Oct. 2016 and has become an instant success. Fans are already dubbing Westworld the new Game of Thrones! Westworld airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
