Well, Juliette looks to be A-Ok. After season four ended on quite a cliffhanger, we weren’t so sure about the fate of Hayden Panettiere’s character — but she’s back for the CMT series.
The first promo for season five of Nashville is here — yes, the pickup you’ve been waiting for is back, along with its stars, Hayden Panettiere, Connie Britton, Charles Esten, Chris Carmack, Clare Bowen, Lennon Stella, and Sam Palladio.
“We tape ourselves together so that no one can see our flawed hearts,” Hayden’s Juliette says into the camera as clips flash behind her of a lot of drama — hook ups, fighting, crying, you know. Hey, you can change the network, but it’s still Nashville.
Many had assumed that Hayden would be back for the show, although she departed briefly for postpartum depression treatment. However, this is the first time she’s confirmed. Charles’ Deacon Claybourne appears looking like he’s taken to the wine during his tough time. “I’ve left a trail of destruction, hurt people I’ve loved, let down the people who love me,” he says in the clip.
There had been rumors that Connie would not be back for the duration of the season, but she recently denied that those were true.
“I don’t know where that stuff came from,” the 49-year-old star told our sister site TVLine. “Like, it’s kind of crazy the things that come out. But what I can tell you is we’re on CMT now, and we have amazing new writers that I’m so excited to about, Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick. It’s going to be the best writing that we’ve seen on Nashville, and it’s probably going to probably be the best season we’ve ever had.”
Season five will begin on Jan. 5 at 9PM on CMT, and episodes will also air on HULU following CMT’s slot.
